How should I improve my vocabulary?

Ok so I need to improve my vocabulary for AP English and the SATs next year (senior year). The only problem is that I have ADD and tend to forget words after looking them up. Many people say just to read more but that doesn't help as much because I just forget the words that I looked up. What should I do?!? Thanks!
